Collision in Half-Way Tree claims lives of two, injures eight

A collision at a busy intersection in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew this morning has claimed the lives of two men and injured several others.

A release from the police's Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) says only one of the dead men has been identified. He is Howard Lane of Grenmead Road in Maverly, Kingston 20. Those injured have not been identified either.

The CCU says the Half-Way Tree Traffic Department is still probing the circumstances of the collision which occurred about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Hagley Park Road and Maxfield Avenue. According to the CCU, Lane was driving a Toyota Coaster bus with several passengers aboard towards Eastwood Park Road when he collided with a Suzuki Swift motor car that was travelling towards Three Miles.

Lane and nine other passengers sustained multiple injuries and were taken to hospital where he and another male passenger succumbed to their injuries. The others were admitted in the hospital.
