Eight prisoners on the run, escaped from Savanna-la-Mar lock-up
The police are on the hunt for eight men who escaped from the Savanna-la-Mar police lock-up in Westmoreland early this morning.
Commander of the Area One Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Paul Ferguson says the men escaped shortly before 1 a.m. after digging through the wall of their cell.
According to the police, at least six of the men are from western Jamaica while the other two are from parts of St Catherine.
ACP Ferguson says the men, who have committed crimes ranging from shootings to murders, are very dangerous.
The senior policeman says the names of the fugitives will be released in short order.
He is also reminding members of the public that it is a crime to harbour criminals.
