The Ministry of Education is reporting that to date, it has received approximately 500 requests for the transfer of students who were recently placed in high schools based on their performance in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT).

According to the ministry, of this number, 200 requests emanated from Region One, which comprises the parishes of Kingston and St Andrew.

The ministry says about 10 per cent of the transfer cases are based on the distance between school and home.

Other reasons include students not getting any of their choices, relocation of parents, and students/parents not being pleased with the placement.
