A High Court judge has sentenced a 29-year-old man to 22 years in prison for the 2013 Valentine's Day shooting of eight people in Nannyville, St Andrew.

Justice Vivienne Harris sentenced Odean Blake in the Gun Court Division of the High Court this afternoon.

He received 15 years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm and 22 years on each of the eight counts of wounding.

Harris said the sentences are to run at the same time.

This means that Blake, a forklift operator, will spend a maximum of 22 years behind bars.

Blake was charged jointly with four other men but they have since been freed.

The police had reported that a group of gunmen attacked a wake in Nannyville, injuring eight people, including women and a four-year-old child.
