Transport minister, Corporate Area taxi operators meeting today
Transport minister Dr Omar Davies is to meet with representatives of Corporate Area taxi operators this morning in a bid to resolve an impasse between the cabbies and the Transport Authority.
The operators withdrew their service this week as they protested the Transport Authority’s insistence that hackney carriages carry no more than three passengers.
The operators have insisted that under law they are allowed to carry four passengers.
They say they are finding it difficult to operate as dictated by the Authority given the depressed economy and the regulator’s inability to rid the roads of illegal taxis.
Today’s meeting with Dr Davies will take place at the transport ministry starting at 10 o’clock.
