New Canadian high commissioner to Jamaica named

The Canadian Government has announced, Sylvain Fabi, as its new high commissioner to Jamaica.

He will replace Robert Ready, who has been serving here since September 2012.

A date has not been announced when the new high commissioner will take up his post.

Prior to his posting in Jamaica, Fabi was director of Canada's North American Policy and Relations Division.

He previously served as deputy director of the Trade Commissioner Service Overseas Operations Division in Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

He has also worked in various capacities in Cuba, Russia and Chile.

Fabi is married to Jany Joyal, and they have two children.
