UPDATE: Digicel says hundreds turn up for network switch in last 48 hours
Telecommunications company Digicel is reporting that it is seeing more than 1,000 customers looking to switch to its network over the past 48 hours.
In a release a short while ago, Sean Latty, Chief Operating Officer, Digicel Jamaica, said while the company has not confirmed its numbers, the response has been great following offers and welcome gifts that were announced over the past few days.
Latty comments came hours after The Gleaner first reported that large crowds had gathered at Digicel outlets in the Corporate Area trying to cash in on the deals that are on offer for persons switching to its network.
With police working overtime to control the crowd at least one member of the Force was seen using pepper spray to keep persons in line.
“Over the past few days, we introduced three great value offers as a welcome gift to mobile users who wish to make the move and join Jamaica’s biggest family.”
“We are very happy with the positive and overwhelming response we have been getting from customers to these three offers over the past few days and we are happy to be welcoming hundreds of new customers to the Digicel family.
This means that they too can now start to enjoy real value, world class service and Jamaica’s only islandwide 4G mobile network,” said Latty.
