The cause of the fire which gutted the Wortley Home for Girls in St Andrew yesterday has still not been determined.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Emelio Ebanks says investigations to determine the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Director of Mission and Ministry for the Diocese of Jamaica, Carmen Bromley says the damage at the home is expected to exceed $34 million.

She says a meeting is now being planned to discuss rebuilding efforts for the home.

Operators of the SOS Children’s Village have indicated they can provide long term accommodation for the wards displaced by yesterday’s fire.

The Youth Ministry says the Child Development Agency has deployed a team of clinical psychologists and social workers to provide emotional support to the wards.
