Howard Isaacs wins JTA presidential election

Howard Isaacs... won over principal of the Friendship Primary School in St. Catherine, Collington Powell; Denham Town High School teacher, Claudette James; and Ansell Palmer, a teacher at the Lowe River Primary and Junior High School in Trelawny.

The principal of Moneague College, Howard Isaacs, has been declared winner of the Jamaica Teachers' Association’s (JTA's) presidential election.

He will be installed as the president-elect for the 2015-2016 year at the union's upcoming conference in August and will serve as president for the 2016-2017 period.

Isaacs contested the elections against principal of the Friendship Primary School in St. Catherine, Collington Powell; Denham Town High School teacher, Claudette James; and Ansell Palmer, a teacher at Lowe River Primary and Junior High School in Trelawny.

The JTA says more than 13,000 votes were cast in this year’s elections which took place last week Tuesday and Wednesday.

The votes were counted at the JTA’s head office this evening.
