Police commissioner to outline anti-crime strategy Monday
Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams says he will be using a press conference on Monday to outline to Jamaicans how they can play a more active role in fighting crime.
Five-hundred-and-seventy-two murders were recorded between January 1 and June 30 this year.
However, Commissioner Williams says it cannot be left just to the security forces to fight crime.
He says Jamaicans have to play their part instead of simply standing aside and counting bodies.
Commissioner Williams says there is no short fix to cauterising the crime wave gripping the nation, but he is promising that on Monday he will also impart fresh information on the way forward.
However, he notes that strategies implemented to combat serious crimes will not necessarily yield immediate results.
