Happy Birthday, Norman Manley
Several political, business and religious leaders, diplomats and students turned out at the National Heroes Park in Kingston yesterday to pay tribute to National Hero Norman Manley on the 122nd anniversary of his birth.
Among those present was Ambassador Burchell Whiteman, who represented Youth and Culture Minister Lisa Hanna.
Whiteman shared that he was honoured to have seen Manley in action through the eyes of a child, a teenager and an adult. He described Manley as a national hero, a patriot, a visionary leader, a legal luminary, a principled political leader and a statesman par excellence.
According to Whiteman, Manley is among the persons who made a significant contribution to the Jamaican society.
He said Manley's life was lived in devotion to the advancement of Jamaica and his selflessness and statesmanship will always be a national inspiration.
