Illegal weapons seized in Manchester, Portland
A man was arrested in Spalding, Manchester yesterday following the seizure of a Ruger pistol with a magazine containing seven .45 cartridges.
His name is being withheld pending an investigation.
Meanwhile, an AK47 assault rifle was seized in the usually quiet parish of Portland.
The illegal gun was seized in Norwich district, bringing to two the number of illegal firearms discovered in that community in only two days.
The police Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) says about 3:30 yesterday afternoon, the weapon which was loaded with fourteen 7.62 rounds of ammunition, was found during a search of a section of a property in the community. No one has been arrested in connection with the find.
About 1:30 a.m. on Friday police on patrol seized a Beretta Jericho handgun, along with a magazine containing one live round in Norwich. Fifty-four-year-old Henry Gayle, of White River was arrested and charged in connection with the find. He is to appear in the Port Antonio Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
