MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, CMC - A Trinidadian national and a 16-year-old student were among 21 persons held by the police in western Jamaica, during an anti-scamming operation.

The police report that the two - whose names have not been released - were held as they searched over 20 premises in the western parish of Hanover on Friday.

The operation led to the seizure of motor vehicles and several electronic devices including laptops, cellular phones and lottery scamming paraphernalia.

"These series of coordinated operations were executed in an effort to curtail the benefits these unscrupulous persons obtain from scamming unsuspecting US citizens. Those arrested will be processed and formal charges laid against those found to be in breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act," said a report from the police.
