West Kingston Enquiry: Residents to retake witness seat today
Residents of Tivoli Gardens will again be in the spotlight when the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry resumes today with some of them giving testimony.
The enquiry will start at 10 o'clock this morning for the last week of the current session of proceedings.
Residents were the first group of people to give testimonies when the enquiry started on December 1 last year.
They detailed accounts of how their loved ones were allegedly killed by the security forces or how their properties were destroyed in the police/military operation of May 2010 to arrest Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke.
Most of the residents are represented by the Office of the Public Defender and the civil society group, Tivoli Committee.
The enquiry, which is in its fifth session, is looking into the circumstances surrounding the operation that left more than 70 civilians dead.
It will break on Friday and resume on September 7.
