JC PTA to host back-to-school-fair
THE JAMAICA College PTA is hosting a special fair this month to help parents take the hassle out of back-to-school activities.
Betty Stephenson Ashley, the association's vice-president, said the fair will not only target Jamaica College parents, but also parents from other Corporate Area schools such as Papine High, Mona High and Campion College.
"Our aim is to help parents to begin planning early for back to school," said Ashley, who disclosed that the special fair is set for Saturday, July 25, inside the Karl Hendrickson Auditorium on the Jamaica College campus, 189 Old Hope Road in St Andrew. Start time is 9 a.m.
Textbooks, bags, uniforms, shoes, stationery, telephones, laptops, computers, in addition to financial services, will be available. Used textbooks at discounted prices for all high-school forms will also be on sale.
"Parents will have access to everything that they need for the start of the new school year in one central location," explained Ashley, who noted that those in need of education loans will also be able to apply through financial entities that have already committed to participate in the back-to-school fair.
Ashley said interest in the fair has been strong, but noted that there is still space for other suppliers of educational items and services.
Among entities that will be at the July 25 event are Western Sports, Wisynco, Digicel, Lime, Office Supplies Brokers Ltd, COK Sodality Co-operative Credit Union, Niche Financing Ltd, the National Health Fund, Inter-Dec Designs Ltd, D+M Uniforms Ltd, Goldies Back to School Uniform, and One-on-One Educational Services, Unicity, an all-natural supplements firm, and Just Kids.
Power 106 FM will broadcast live from the location.
