Political analyst Kevin O’Brien Chang is warning that former Labourite Joan Gordon Webley will prove to be a greater liability than an asset to the Peoples' National Party (PNP).

Chang says having Gordon Webley as a member of the PNP is not worth the risk of a rift in the party.

Furious PNP supporters have been venting over the inclusion of the controversial political figure, who has had numerous run-ins with PNP supporters over the past 35 years.

Comrades have threatened to bring the matter to the next meeting of the National Executive Council.

Chang says the PNP executive must do a cost-benefit analysis and revise its decision to admit the long-time labourite.

He says unlike other politicians who have switched sides in the past, such as Karl Samuda, Gordon Webley does not bring votes with her, which can boost the PNP’s fortunes at future polls.
