Police federation wants deeper probe into death of Westmoreland cop

Chairman of the Police Federation, Sergeant Raymond Wilson, is calling for a thorough investigation into the crash that claimed the life of Constable Curtis Lewis.

Sergeant Wilson says information coming to the federation suggests that the crash may not be a mere accident.

He says the federation is concerned that in recent times on-duty police personnel have been injured in questionable road crashes.

The federation chairman says there have been instances where motorists drive in an unsafe manner so as to avoid prosecution and in so doing end up injuring others in the process.

While not drawing any conclusions in the recent cases, Sergeant Wilson is urging investigators to take a deeper look at the circumstance surrounding Lewis’ death.

He is appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the crash to come forward to help the investigation.
