Task force set up to probe policewoman's killing
The Police High Command says a special task force has been set up to probe the death of Woman Constable Crystal Thomas.
Thomas was shot and killed last night as she challenged gunmen who were robbing a bus along Spanish Town Road.
She was a passenger on the bus.
She was reportedly shot three times and thrown from the bus onto the side of the road.
The high command says the task force is being headed by Senior Superintendent Dean Taylor, who is being assisted by Superintendent Alden Davis.
The high command is appealing to members of the public who may have information in relation to the policewoman’s death to come forward.
Two suspects are now in custody in relation to her death.
Earlier today, SSP Taylor told our news centre that the police have recovered the service weapon of the slain policewoman.
However, SSP Taylor declined to say where the firearm was recovered, stating that he did not want to jeopardise the fast-moving probe.
This is the second fireman recovered in relation to the attack on Constable Thomas.
Both firearms will be sent to the government forensic laboratory for testing.
