The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) is reporting that 304 persons have been arrested for stealing electricity since the start of the year.

The company says the arrests were made in operations carried out in collaboration with members of the security forces.

JPS crews have also pulled down 9,512 throw-up lines for the same period.

In the latest operation, one man was arrested while other people reportedly fled from their homes as JPS teams carried out an operation in Windsor Heights in Central Village, St Catherine.

Eight-hundred-and-fifty throw-up lines were removed.

Meanwhile, in recent weeks, 10 people pleaded guilty for illegally abstracting electricity and were ordered to pay $150,000 each.
