PNP NEC did not reject membership application - Gordon Webley
Former Jamaica Labour Party stalwart, Joan Gordon Webley, is rejecting reports that her application for membership in the ruling People's National Party (PNP) has been rejected.
The Gleaner understands that following a meeting of the party's National Executive Council (NEC) yesterday, Gordon-Webley's application for membership was rejected and the party's executive told to reconsider the membership application.
However, speaking with The Gleaner-Power 106 News this afternoon, Gordon Webley said she was told that her application had been sent back by the NEC to the PNP executive for additional information.
Gordon Webley has been facing stiff opposition because of a comment she made on the campaign trail years ago when she referred to the party president Portia Simpson Miller as a jezebel - a term interpreted to mean a heartless, conniving woman.
