AJ Nicholson reserves comment on 'bad relationship' with Vascianne
Jamaica's Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Senator AJ Nicholson, has reserved comments on reports of a poor relationship with former Ambassador to the United States, Professor Stephen Vascianne.
Vascianne served for three years before demitting office on July 17 having chosen not to renew his contract.
Last night, Senator Nicholson refused to answer questions on his relationship with Vascianne, only saying he gets on well with all of Jamaica's diplomats.
The Jamaica Observer reported yesterday that Vascianne and Nicholson had not spoken to each other for several months.
The report also noted that the alleged breakdown in the relationship may have contributed to the Ambassador's decision not to renew his contract.
Vascianne is expected to take up a post at the Mona campus of the University of the West Indies.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister says a new ambassador to the US will be announced soon.
