Police High Command, Federation resolve day off issue
The Police High Command says it has reached an agreement with the Jamaica Police Federation over the cancellation of days off for rank and file cops.
However Deputy Commissioner of Police Clifford Blake has declined to outline the details.
There was unease among rank and file members after the Police High Command declared that all days off would be cancelled for the Emancipation/Independence period July 31 to August 2.
Police Federation chairman sergeant Raymond Wilson had raised concern that the federation was not consulted before such a decision which could impact the welfare of cops, already under stress.
He had argued that the move could see cops working for more than 16 straight days without a break.
This afternoon, Wilson could not be reached for a comment on the reported development.
