Longer wait for new NSWMA executive director

It appears the National Solid Waste Management Agency (NSWMA) will not be getting a permanent executive director soon.

NSWMA board chairman, Dennis Chung, says the agency is still trying to complete the necessary government processes before advertising to fill the post.

The post became vacant in March, when the board decided against renewing the contract of Jennifer Edwards.

The decision not to renew Edwards' contract came amid criticisms levelled at the agency in the wake of a fire at the Riverton Landfill in St Andrew that burned for weeks causing health and economic fallout.

Colonel Daniel Pryce has been serving as the NSWMA's interim executive director.
