Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen.

The Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen, in his Independence Day message to the nation, says each Jamaican has a duty to build the bright and prosperous Jamaica dreamt of.

He says to do this Jamaicans must urgently join forces against the crime and violence and embrace positive values which will strengthen the nation.

He also says Jamaicans must curtail the corruption which undermines Jamaica’s development and threatens social stability and end the spate of murder and violent abuse of children.

Sir Patrick also says citizens must use the roads wisely to prevent the carnage from continuing and work to protect the beauty of the island.
