UDATE: Police I.D. woman killed by coaster bus, driver still not found

The police have identified the sole person killed in yesterday's hit-and-run in the busy downtown Kingston market district yesterday afternoon.

She is 32-year-old Patrice Nelson of a Kingston 19 address.

Nelson was one of four women mowed down by a Toyota Coaster bus on Pechon Street about 2 p.m yesterday. She succumbed to her injuries in hospital yesterday.The other three women are still being treated in hospital.

Up to news time, the police said a hunt was still on for the driver of the Coaster bus, who fled the scene after the incident.

The Road Safety Unit in the Ministry of Transport reported that up to Friday, road fatalities had increased by eight per cent when compared to the same period last year with some 211 people killed since January.
