JUST IN: Teachers vote to accept latest wage offer

Under the deal, the teachers will be getting a four per cent salary increase in year one and three per cent in year two plus adjustments to some of their benefits.

Public school teachers have voted to accept the Government's latest wage offer.

Delegates attending the Jamaica Teachers' Association's (JTA) annual conference now under way in Montego Bay, St James voted 2 to 1 to accept the offer a short while ago.

Under the deal, the teachers will be getting a four per cent salary increase in year one and three per cent in year two plus adjustments to some of their benefits.

The teachers have had months of negotiations with the Government for the new wage deal.
