AUDIO: It was tough, I had my doubters, says Bolt after 100m golden run
Usain Bolt has credited "hard work and dedication" for his victory in the men’s 100m at the 15th IAAF World Championships.
In a race many dubbed a clash between good and evil, Bolt triumphed crossing the finish line in 9.79 seconds with America's Justin Gatlin (9.80) second.
"It was tough," Bolt said.
"I had my doubters."
Bolt, 29, has been beset by a pelvic injury for much of the season while Gatlin, who has twice served doping suspensions, was busy racking up an impressive series of wins.
The two will come face to face again in the 200m which Bolt said will be a bit more challenging given he is not fully fit, but expects to once again do enough to win.
The heats of the men’s 200m are slated for Tuesday at 6:30 a.m
