Justin Gatlin has weighed in on a joke started by Usain Bolt claiming that the American paid a cameraman to hit him down.

"The rumour I’m trying to start right now is that Justin Gatlin paid him off," Bolt said after successfully defending his 200m title at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

Gatlin has since responded.

"I want my money back," he said suggesting that the cameraman did not complete the job.

Bolt has said he is OK following the crash.

The Jamaican was acknowledging the support from his fans in the Beijing stands when the wheel of the segway on which the cameraman was travelling rode over a rail and caused him to lose control of the motorised equipment.

He then crashed into Bolt's calves, sweeping the athlete from his feet.
