KSAC building inspector on corruption charge remanded
Twenty-eight-year-old building inspector Fabian Cawley has been remanded on corruption charges.
Cawley, who is employed to the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation, is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on September 14.
The police had reported that in May, the KSAC building inspector visited a location in Kingston where a building was being constructed.
He reportedly informed the proprietor that the building permit had expired.
Cawley then allegedly solicited $500,000 in order to expedite the process of renewing the permit.
A report was made to Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, which launched an investigation.
Cawley was subsequently arrested after he was allegedly caught collecting a sum of money.
