A police Inspector is now battling for life in hospital with a stab wound to the neck.

His identity is being withheld, but law enforcement sources say he is attached to the Kingston West Division.

According to one source, the knife was lodged in the policeman's neck and he was taken to the University Hospital of the West Indies for a Cat Scan.

Law enforcement sources say the Inspector went to resolve a family dispute when he was stabbed by a 17-year-old male.

It's not known if the teen has been taken into custody.

In recent weeks the Kingston West Division has lost two members, Constables Crystal Thomas and Lynden Barrett, who were shot and killed by gunmen in separate incidents.
