Health Minister takes steps to improve patient treatment at health facilities
The Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, says more personnel are being employed, as part of efforts to improve the treatment of patients at local health facilities across Jamaica.
He says while the audit of major health facilities did not uncover issues about patient treatment, the ministry has received significant complaints on the matter.
Ferguson also says the measures being implemented now are aimed at improving comfort through the regular turning, feeding and changing of the clothes of hospitalised patients.
Meanwhile, he says a committee is now examining the ministry's draft customer care policy.
According to Ferguson, there will be consultations with the public.
Users of the Jamaica's health facilities have routinely complained about poor customer service and treatment by practitioners.
