INDECOM investigating Collie Smith Drive police shooting
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has started a probe into this morning's fatal shooting of a man by a police team along Collie Smith Drive in Kingston.
Shortly after the shooting, several residents took to the streets to protest.
They say shortly after six o'clock, 24-year-old Andrew Gayle was picking ackees when members of a police team searching for a wanted man, ordered him to stop.
The residents say the police then fired at Gayle, hitting him.
According to them, Gayle ran into a nearby yard where he was again shot.
He died on the spot.
Police personnel were maintaining a close watch on the area as the residents cry for justice.
The residents say Gayle was not a member of any gang.
They described him as a self-employed barber and artist who was mistaken for someone else.
