The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) says Opposition Senator Marlene Malahoo Forte will be its representative for West Central St James in the next general elections.

JLP General Secretary Dr Horace Chang says Malahoo-Forte is the only approved applicant for the position.

He says the application will be confirmed when at the party's next Central Executive meeting.

Malahoo-Forte, who is the JLP spokesperson on health is headed to the constituency that the JLP lost in 2011.

She was the JLP candidate in Central Westmoreland in 2011.

St James West Central is currently held by Sharon Ffolkes of the People's National Party.

In August, former Opposition Senator, Dennis Meadows withdrew his application to represent the JLP in the seat.
