The Opposition Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is rejecting claims by a senior member of the government that the People's National Party (PNP) has the backing of the business community.

Mark Golding made the declaration as he argued that businesses are pleased with the economic direction in which the ruling party is taking the country.

Golding said in light of that it would be absolute madness if Jamaicans voted out the PNP in the upcoming general elections.

However, Deputy Spokesperson on Finance, Fayval Williams, says Golding is out of touch with the economic realities.

Williams argues that businesses continue to be affected by the lack of growth and the high crime rate.
