PNP's Lloyd B Smith gets death threats
People's National Party (PNP) Central St James MP, Lloyd B Smith, says he is in fear after receiving death threats leading up to yesterday’s vote against him by delegates of his constituency.
Smith says he received two threats by telephone and has reported the matter to the St James police.
The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre was not able to confirm that a report was made to the police.
In the meantime, Smith says he believes the threats are linked to the internal poll he was preparing to contest.
The PNP leadership says it is not aware of the alleged threats.
However, PNP General Secretary, Paul Burke, says about three months ago, Smith had expressed concerns for his safety.
