Businessman Evon Redman is set to represent the People's National Party in North East St Elizabeth.

The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre understands that Redman was confirmed during a meeting with members of the PNP hierarchy in Kingston today.

His confirmation came hours after the PNP turned down the application of incumbent Raymond Pryce.

Last night, the PNP secretariat issued a statement on behalf of Pryce.

The statement was dated September 12 - that's one day after a Pryce supporter, former Black River Mayor Daphne Holmes, took the PNP to court and secured an injunction against the holding of a selection exercise in the North East St Elizabeth constituency.
