West Kingston Enquiry: Tivoli Gardens resident changes claim of witnessing fatal shooting

A Tivoli Gardens resident has backed away from her claim that she witnessed a soldier fatally shoot a man believed to be of unsound mind during the May 2010 police-military operation in her west Kingston community.

During her evidence-in-chief today, Minnette Lindsay told the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry that she watched from the window of an apartment on Dreckett Place as a soldier fired one shot that struck Syndey Clarke in the head.

However, Lindsay backtracked during cross-examination this afternoon after she was confronted with Clarke's post-mortem report.

The report showed that Clarke was shot in the chest and abdomen.

Lindsay then admitted that she didn't actually see when Clarke was shot, but was relaying things that she heard.
