Don Creary granted bail totalling $4m on rape charges

Don Creary is being accused of the rape of a 15-year-old girl in 2013 in St Mary and the rape of a 19-year-old woman at an apartment in Meadowbrook, St Andrew in June this year.

Businessman and former Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor Don Creary has been granted $2 million bail on each of his two rape charges.

Bail was granted when Creary reappeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.

In applying for bail, attorney-at-law Tom Tavares-Finson argued that the businessman is not a flight risk and does not have a criminal record.

Creary was ordered to return to court on October 16.

He is being accused of the rape of a 15-year-old girl in 2013 in St Mary and the rape of a 19-year-old woman at an apartment in Meadowbrook, St Andrew in June this year.

Twenty-two-year-old Shaneke Williams, is charged with aiding and abetting and sexual touching in connection with the first case.

She was previously granted bail in the sum of $1.5 million.
