Health ministry says operations back to normal at hospitals
The Ministry of Health says operations at hospitals and health centres across the island have returned to normal following two days of protests by nurses.
Nurses returned to work today following a meeting at the Ministry of Labour yesterday.
The nurses withdrew their services to protest the delays in the payment of millions owed to them by the government since 2013 arising from an earlier reclassification of the health sector.
Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, says the two-days of protests by nurses were very difficult for the staff tasked with keeping the operations of the facilities going.
Ferguson is thanking all those who helped to keep hospitals and health centres open.
He says the health ministry empathises with the cause of nurses and adds that the ministry remains committed to working with them to continue to provide health care.
