PNP delegates registration kicks off at National Arena
Registration of delegates is underway at the National Arena as the People’s National Party (PNP) begins the first of its three-day annual conference.
Approximately 5,000 delegates are on the roll of the PNP ahead of the 77th annual conference.
Deputy General Secretary, Julian Robinson, told The Gleaner-Power 106 News Centre that due to financial constraints, most of the deliberations will involve Corporate Area delegates.
Delegates are today expected to discuss a number of reports which will be received from different organs and officers of the party.
The party has further indicated that today’s discussion will also include matters related to constitutional amendments and the party’s political programme.
Tomorrow, the second day of the private session, will be dedicated to examining and debating the work of the party during the 2014-2015 political year.
The organisational state of the party and election preparations are also on the agenda.
PNP Chairman Robert Pickersgill said on Sunday that, PNP President, Portia Simpson Miller, who is also the prime minister, will focus on the achievements and progress of the Government in reforming the Jamaican economy and setting the stage for greater economic development when she addresses the public session Sunday.
