A man listed as a person of interest by the Clarendon Police was last night killed in a reported shoot out with an off-duty cop.

The police say 26-year-old Lushane Jones otherwise called 'Jesus' or 'Boysie' was shot dead when he and another man challenged the policeman during an attempted robbery.

It is reported that about 8:30 last night Jones and his accomplice held up a group of residents in the Glenmuir Housing Scheme.

According to the police, the off-duty Clarendon cop identified himself as a policeman and the gunmen fired at him.

The cop returned the fire fatally wounding 'Jesus'.

A Smith & Wesson 9 mm pistol with a magazine containing three rounds of ammunition was reportedly taken from him.

The police say the other gunman escaped on foot in the area.

'Jesus' was wanted for questioning in relation to two gun-related incidents.
