The Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ) says it is yet to get a date to meet with the Finance Minister, Dr Peter Phillips, on the payment deadline for millions owed to nurses.

NAJ president, Janet Farr, told The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre last night that she was expected to get a date yesterday after Friday's deadline was missed.

Meanwhile, she says an emergency meeting with the members of the NAJ, which was scheduled for today has been postponed.

That meeting was announced last Wednesday following two days of protest over the delay in the payment owed since a 2013 reclassification exercise.

Minister with responsibility for the Public Service, Horace Dalley, has said the payment of the outstanding money is scheduled for February next year.

Dalley says only the Finance Minister and other senior technocrats in the ministry can change the deadline.

The NAJ says nurses want Dr Phillips to ensure they get the money this year.
