Health ministry signs $76m contract for renovation work at Linstead Hospital
The health ministry has signed a contract worth about $76.4 million with Chin’s Construction Limited to begin renovation of the Linstead Hospital's Accident and Emergency department.
The signing took place yesterday at Jamaica House.
The work will include the addition of a waiting area, parking area, nebulisation station and examination bays for the accident and emergency department.
Doors and windows, air conditioning and a public address system will also be installed.
Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, says the improvements are part of a larger project valued at $100 million.
Ferguson urged contractors to ensure that the project is done within budget.
Meanwhile, work on the hospital's administrative building is 40 per cent complete.
A $21.6 million contract was signed to refurbish the building earlier this year.
The projects are being funded by the National Health Fund.
