Education Minister Ronald Thwaites says adequate furniture will be in place at the Clan Carthy High School in Kingston by next Monday.

Hundreds of students have had to be staying home on certain days because of the furniture shortage.

An additional 120 desk and chairs have been ordered and are expected to be delivered on the weekend.

The Education Minister today met with representatives of the school board and management.

He told them that the decision to keep approximately 200 students away from school for a day, to cope with the lack of furniture, should have first been discussed with the Education Ministry.

The Education Minister also instructed the school leaders to ensure that make-up classes are provided for the students who were absent.
