Jamaica Customer Service Week to focus on engaging workforce, building Jamaica
Customer service is a crucial building block of any economy. It was against this background that the president of the United States first declared a National Customer Service Week in the United States in 1992.
Sixteen years later, the Jamaica Customer Service Association was instrumental in getting former Governor General, Professor Kenneth Hall to declare the first full week of October National Customer Service Week in Jamaica.
In endorsing the week, the governor general said, “all citizens of Jamaica should join the Jamaica Customer Service Association (JaCSA) in recognition of and thanksgiving for customers and service providers of this country, the services provided and the invaluable contribution which service providers make to the quality of life of our nation”.
The declaration of the week was timely, coinciding with the observance of International Customer Service Week and the national celebration of Jamaica's athletes who participated in the 29th Olympiad in Beijing, China.
This year, JaCSA will join corporate and public entities in celebrating National Customer Service Week under the theme “Service Excellence: Engaging Our Workforce, Building Jamaica” from October 4-10.
To commemorate the week, a special church service is scheduled to be held on October 4 at the Sts Peter & Paul Church at 9 a.m.
JaCSA’s 13th annual conference will follow on October 6-7 at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.
The association is committed to ensuring that our beloved island is prepared to embrace our 2030 vision, to be the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business. There is an inextricable link between the realisation of that desired result and the attainment of an evolved culture of service excellence nationally.
Public sector entities, civil and private organisations across the island have been invited to celebrate with us and enjoy the benefits of excellent customer service all year long.
