Bruce Golding ... it is already costing the Jamaican Government $1.6 million annually for each inmate in the country’s penal institutions.

The former Prime Minister Bruce Golding says he is surprised the nation has not been told who will stand the cost to maintain the 300 Jamaicans who will be transferred from the UK to complete their sentences at the new prison.

According to him, it is already costing the Jamaican Government $1.6 million annually for each inmate in the country’s penal institutions.

Charging that the UK government spends four times that amount on each of its inmate annually, Golding insists the Jamaicans to be transferred here are the responsibility of the British Government despite their being Jamaicans.
