A trauma team has been dispatched to Clarendon to provide support for the family of a high school student and her sister following the girls' murder on the weekend.

The bodies of 18-year-old Janhell Howell – an upper sixth form student at the Vere Technical High school – and her sister, 22-year-old Felecia Bryan were found in bushes in Landlease Settlement in Hayes on Sunday morning.

According to the police, the siblings had left home to go to a nearby shop on Saturday night.

‎"It reflects badly on the society when females are slaughtered in such a manner and it speaks to the level of moral decay we have in our society," said Senior Superintendent Fitz Bailey, the commanding officer for the Clarendon Police Division.

The bodies of the siblings were found in a remote area that is thickly wooded and extremely dark.

The Director of Safety and Security in the Ministry of Education Sergeant Coleridge Minto says the trauma team comprises several counsellors.

He also said support will be provided for the staff and students at Vere Technical.
