Police to continue raids in downtown Kingston
The Kingston Central Police have vowed to continue with a series of operations in sections of the downtown commercial district.
That assurance has come from head of the division, Superintendent Michael Scott, after the police conducted a series of raids in the Charles Street and Luke Lane areas yesterday.
Scott says the raids are part of the ‘Get the Guns’ campaign announced by Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams last month as part of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s crime reduction strategy.
The police say during yesterday’s operations a magazine containing 23 rounds of ammunition was seized and 20 men taken into custody, including one who was wanted on a warrant for disobeying a court order.
According to the police, three of the men remain in custody and are to be questioned by investigators while the others have been processed and released.
