Opposition Spokesperson on Health, Senator Marlene Malahoo Forte, is expressing concern about what she says is the lethargic response from the health ministry in relation to the growth in the mosquito population.

On Monday the health ministry urged persons to report areas which need to be fogged to Parish Health Departments.

However, the Ministry noted that fogging cannot be done during the rain and said the activity would resume once the heavy rains stopped.

But Senator Malahoo Forte is not pleased with that response.

She says the delayed response of the Ministry of Health may end up costing the country more.

She says Jamaica cannot afford to end up with a chikungunya-like crisis.
