Health Minister to make statement in Parliament, as public pressure mount over babies deaths

Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson and the Ministry of Health have been under public pressure following the revelation that 18 newborns died during outbreaks of infection at two of the island’s major hospital.

Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson, is to make a statement in Parliament this afternoon.

A total of 40 premature babies were affected in the outbreaks.

The Health Minister, the Ministry of Health and the leadership of the hospitals have been accused of mismanagement with calls being made for action to be taken.

Ferguson has rebuffed calls for him to resign.
